For Chad Newsome, that moment came in the mid-2000s when he stepped in as Executive Producer for a friend’s independent film. Although the project was never completed, it was enough to awaken his calling: telling stories through film.

Self-taught and highly driven, Chad combines creativity and imagination with logical thinking and strategic planning. This balance has enabled him to successfully complete seven short films in just three years—a remarkable achievement that reflects his focus, discipline, and passion for the craft.

Since meeting his now-fiancée in 2010, the pair have built a strong creative partnership, joining forces to bring compelling stories to the screen.

One of the most unique aspects of his recent work is his Covid-19 Comedy series. These films use humor to explore the quirks, struggles, and unexpected moments of life during a global pandemic. Currently in pre-production is The Raid (A Covid-19 Comedy)—a feature-length comedy about a drug-addicted film director and his band of misfit D-list actors and dysfunctional crew attempting to secretly shoot a film during the early days of lockdown. With its bold concept and sharp humor, the film promises to entertain while subtly commenting on creativity under pressure.

But Chad is not confined to comedy alone. His upcoming dramatic short Her delves into emotional territory, depicting a cathartic “conversation” between a wounded inner child and their successful adult self. The film is a deeply introspective exploration of healing, growth, and self-reconciliation.

On a lighter note, Who Got the Fish? is a comedic short that celebrates the Black family experience through the lens of food. With relatable family dynamics and cultural nuance, the story offers laughter while honoring tradition, identity, and community.
